The Reflecting Pool

Thoughts from a Family of One

By Myriah Krista Walker

MEDITATE to engage in contemplation or reflection ~ 1: to focus one's thoughts on: reflect on or ponder over 2: to plan or project in the mind: INTEND, PURPOSE

All that we do is a reflection, either upon the atmosphere around us, the people, plants and animals in our field, and even ourselves.

We can think thoughts that are harmonious, and the whole world reflects that harmony back to us.

We can think on thoughts that are angry, resentful, demeaning to self and others and the world feels too heavy and unkind to be upon.

We can speak or write a thought-full word that uplifts another and empowers us both immediately.

Take a moment to focus your thoughts in a different form. Imagine you are a giant laying upon a bank next to a large and beautiful pool. We'll call this the Pool of Oneness.

As you look upon the surface of the Pool, you see that it reflects your thoughts.

The Pool may be flat and serene, or roiling with turbulence.

Be brave enough to look at all the images as we proceed, for they are simply a reflection of All That You Are. When you dare to look at all the images, you dare to bring Light and Awareness to yourself. These are just reflections of your thoughts, and thoughts can change.

The Pool may hold many different images. You are a multi-talented individual with various thoughts and ideas.

Perhaps the Pool is reflecting the many activities of your day and the people and events you interacted with and all the business you partake in.

The Pool is also reflecting your hopes and dreams and desires.

Some images reflect lots of color and light. Some images reflect lots of shadows.

Some images may seem dull and lifeless, while others make you want to dive in and play and explore.

Some images may seem false, and others quite true. Some images will be Heart connected.

This Pool is reflecting Mind. There are images from mortal mind and Divine Mind, for you are All of that. Even when you are stuck in your thinking of mundane tasks and the necessities of your biology, Divine Mind is ever present.

Mortal mind stops at the end of your skin. Divine Mind is endless and Ever Present.

Take another look at the images you have reflected in the Pool. There may be images of who you used to be, who you are now, and who you will be. It is your choice which images to keep reflecting upon.

Now think of something in your life that brings you great Joy. Let this idea fill your Heart with warmth. Bring forth an idea that really fills you with happiness. Let this idea grow and blossom, and see the reflection of it upon the Pool. If you have trouble conjuring up an image, imagine a large rose in the center of the Pool.

This reflection of Joy touches all the other images upon the surface.

This reflection of Joy makes all the other ideas look differently, as if they are wearing new colors.

Notice how just one thought of Joy, nurtured and allowed to grow, affects all your other thoughts and ideas.

Are you calmer and more at peace than when you began this session? Were you brave enough to look at all the images?

The more you discover and examine the reflection of your own thoughts, the more places your ideas of Joy have to touch and reflect upon.

Whenever you feel mentally challenged and drained, come to the Pool of Oneness and spend time reflecting. It's a great way to still your thoughts and focus on the reflections that are True.
