I often pick up a small rock or stone to carry in my pocket as I walk along. There is one particular rock that calls to me today. It is flat and smooth; its oval shape fits nicely in the palm of my hand. It came from the bank of the Colorado River and has been sitting on a table near the fireplace since I moved here. It likes the heat and radiates a happy serenity in my home.
When I hold it and close my eyes, I can feel the river flowing over the stone as if it is still in the water. I know what it is to be within the movement of water rushing all around me. I imagine I'm within the water, blessing all who come in contact with the river. It's a grand waterway, touching many.
In Oneness, there is communication with all life forms. Trees speak, as well as animals, rivers, plants, insects, and rock. The Stone People speak in a unique cadence. Its almost like a vibration you feel rumbling deep within your bones. When a stone speaks, it can be subtle at first. Perhaps you've walked along a trail and a space resting beside a large boulder seems inviting. You didn't hear it say "Oh, do come sit beside me for a while," but you reacted to it. With practice, communication with the rock becomes very audible. They speak in deep comforting tones, without hurry. They have been here for eons and do not know what it is to rush.
Stones are heavy, and good for grounding. Grounding means I'm able to be more effective on this earth plane in all that I do. Meditating or quietly reflecting while holding a stone teaches us the power of Stillness and Silence.
All cause is from the effect of our mental and emotional feeling tones. Coming from a place of Stillness empowers our ability to be a Gentle Presence blessing our world, our homes, our families, and all that is in our environment. Speaking in Oneness with the Stone People can bless and heal a vast area of this earth, as there is rock throughout this planet.
Stones absorb water and heat, and love basking in the sunlight. They also absorb loving thoughts. When you bless one rock with the intent of blessing all like forms, that is powerful indeed. That is Oneness.
The following meditation is a reflection on Stillness. It came to me one sunny-wet day while I walked beside the river, holding a small stone. The pace of this meditation is very very slow, like the life of a stone. Move slowly, absorbing one sentence at a time. Maybe one idea is enough -- you can come back and finish more of it later. There is no hurry. This session helps us to become comfortable with Stillness and Silence. It is suggested you find a small stone to hold while doing it. Most of all, have fun and a sense of play while you explore this meditation, and the Stillness within.
By the way, if you ever want to feel a stone smile, hold it close and whisper "I love this planet."
Always with Love,

Stillness in Action
With the Stone People
By Myriah Krista Walker
med-i-tate 1. Engage in continuous and contemplative thought 2. think about doing; plan.
(Find a rock or small stone and hold it during this meditation.)
Somewhere in the dictionary, between "medicine" and "Medusa," is the word MEDITATE. A fitting place to be, for Gentleness resides between a rock and a hard place.
Each of our worlds is uniquely different. Filled with activities, busy-ness, and outside stimulation. Yet there is a Stillness at the center of every activity. That Stillness is breath. Silent and full. Meditation is simply the act of becoming consciously aware of the continuous rhythm of Stillness within.
There cannot be action without Stillness. One is a catalyst for the other. Is it action or Stillness that is at the center of the medicine wheel of your being?
The Stone People are STILLNESS IN ACTION. Hold the stone in the right hand. Breathe with it.
As you breathe with the stone, think on the idea that there is both Stillness and action everywhere in this world.
The fluttering insect becomes still in the spider's web, moving the still spider into action.
The apples in the orchards become full, ripe, still, waiting for an active hand to partake of their fullness, and be transformed again into the Stillness within.
In autumn, leaves fall, becoming still upon the ground. In their Stillness they will transform into the soils as they slumber through winter, becoming active through new life once again in the spring, blossoming into the fruitfulness of summer.
Love is the Voice of Stillness within all Life. There is Love in the stone in your hand. Breathe deeply into your Heart, and let the stone's Radiance merge with your own Light.
Sometimes, not always, there is a touch of pain when I merge My Soul Heart with the Stone People. They always seem to find the places within that need Grace and softening. Funny how something so hard perceives where Gentleness needs to blossom.
Place the stone upon your breast and breathe as One. Breathe in deeply the feeling tone of Gentleness. Be at the center of this Oneness, letting it ripple throughout the biology. If there is tension or discord, continue breathing in Love until it dis-solves.
When was the last episode of hectic activity you experienced? Allow you to become You, the Higher Self, and reflect on this episode. Bring it to Mind in Your Imag-I-Nation as though you are viewing a film.
Reflect on the Stillness within yourself at that time. You may not have been aware of the presence of Stillness, but hindsight is always 20/20.
Look about any others that were with you. Reflect on the Stillness within them, whether it was apparent then or not. It was and IS present. Become aware of that ever present Stillness at the hub of the activity.
Place the stone in your left hand. Breathe as One. Look forward in time to another space and place of action and hectivity. A time you are looking forward to. Project your Heart Light into this image as you view it. Feel the Stillness within that time, the pause between each breath. Feel Peace amplified from your Inner Presence as you interact with others. Reflect on how coming from the Stillness within affects the interaction.
A home is created from living elements, harnessed into walls and rooms and windows and made manifest into Stillness. The place and space that contains the grace of the physical body. The walls and floors still radiate the life force of nature from whence they were created. Wood, stone, plaster and glass, carpet and fibers, all emanate Gentle Presence, for in their "active" forms, Love was the ever present pulse within.
The only permanence within all form is Love. The matter or form may change, but the spiritual aspect of every living thing endures, transforms, re-members One.
The Stone People re-member original form and essence, and speak of the feeling tones of Love and Oneness in all Life. Over time, everything blends into feeling tones. Everything becomes Harmonious, because there is simply no other place and space to BE but Harmony.
Stillness amplifies Peace, bringing Harmony to all action. As you go about the home, work place, shops, public spaces, contemplate the Stillness that brought these forms together. Take note where Stillness and Silence become more appropriate, and transform the actions of the present moment. BE meditation in all that you do. BE contemplative thought in action.
Put the stone in your pocket, and carry this Stillness forward. Become the Gentle Presence of Stillness in action in all your affairs. Welcome Home, and thank You for sharing.
NOTE: In Oneness, it is possible to share and exchange atoms and molecules of other life forms, such as stones, animals, and plants. Yet the human biology runs with a different energy than stone. After this exercise, take time to clear the stone's energy from yourself, making sure to use only the stone's aura, not life force suitable for stones only.
